Say Goodbye to JJSP Blogger

Hey everyone I regret to inform you all that this will be my very last blog posting. As this class draws to a close I've learned so much about social media advertising. Mainly that if you are to be successful you should schedule your posts to be on a weekly time that is consistent. Other then that posting for me wasn't very difficult. I can usually come up with creative ideas for posts relatively easily. I am also able to be flexible in what I tend to post about my business but yet it still relates to my Photography.

Ive learned that twitter just isn't for me, with how limited your post size is for me it isn't practical. Facebook on the other side offers the best of the other 3 social media options. It allows for me to do long and short posts as well as share images. Not to say that posting on 3 different social media platforms is bad because it isn't. But it would be nice if Facebook was the be all and end all of social media advertising but that just isn't the case.

I did however enjoy using YouTube in this course and making the commercial was very fun for me. I believe the future of social media will remain multi media with images, audio, and video. So in the future for this class that might be something to add for future students to do more of. I however also believe that with my background in photography and videography I have a slight bias towards how easy the commercial was to make. Anyways signing off for the last time this is Jake with Jake Jubie Sports Photography keep the shutters clicking and those images printing.

JJSP Now Has an APP!

Hello everyone i am super excited to announce that Jake Jubie Sports Photography now has an App! With the Jake Jubie Sports Photography app you will be able to read reviews of my images and services. After reading these reviews you will also be able to see my schedule for the year and see what dates are booked and which dates are free and then you will be able to select a date and time for your session. During this process you can give me details on where and how you would like your session to be captured. You will of course have to make a payment to keep the date of the session booked solid so you will be able to pay for that within the app itself of course you could also pay for the session entirely as well. When the session is over the images can be viewed from a password protected gallery within the app itself and inside of this app you can order prints to be delivered to your home. Finally you yourself can write a review of my services and images over all.

No Shave November

No Shave November marks the start of mens health month. The goal of No Shave November is to rase awareness for several mens health issues such as prostate cancer, depression, and other male cancers. The goal of the No Shave November campaign is to change the face of mens health. For more information on No Shave November check out https://us.movember.com. Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis, and also effective treatments, and ultimately to reduce the number of deaths that can be easily prevented. Aside from annual check-ups the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history for diseases and family history for cancer, so they can try to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

For No Shave November I will be participating by also allowing my facial hair to grow out. Secondly I will be posting photos on my social media of facial hair that i see daily. I also will be donating much of my free time to events that will be happening during the month of November. I will be using my photos from these events of event goers facial hair to promote No Shave November. You can see all of these pictures on my Instagram feed and please feel free to share my photo collections to spread the awareness for mens health month.

Lastly Jake Jubie Sports Photography will be organizing a sporting even of the manliest thing there is for men with facial hair. Lumberjack trials! We will be having 3 main events as well as 2 sub-events. The main events will be the Underhand Block Chop, Standing Block Chop, and the Spring Board Block Chop. For the Sub-events we will have 2 different speed climbs one a 60 foot and the other a 90 foot, and of course it wouldn't be lumberjack games without logrolling! All of these events will be timed with prizes for the top 3 in each event! Sports Photography Essentials

The tools that a sports photographers use are crucial in allowing them to capture dynamic action packed photos. As well as making this increasingly easier due to newer technologies and digital photography. In this posting to day i will give you my list of essential gear for general sports photography and how i use the gear to capture professional images.

First the camera is a very important part of sports photography as such it is essential to use a top tier model. I currently use the Canon 1dx which takes photos at a rate of 12 images per second allowing me to do sequenced images easily. It also allows photos to be taken in extremely low light. For every photographer it is important to have a backup thus i carry 3 of these professional camera. I use one remotely on a tripod for just extra shots that may be useful. The other two will always have a lens on it during a sporting event to limit the amount of time i am switching lenses, this allows me to focus more on taking photos.

Secondly the lenses are also very important in photography because they greatly impact how your photo will look. I currently use 6 main lenses for my sports photography from the wide angle all the way up to super telephoto. At the wide end i have the brand new and very expensive canon 11-24mm f4 this lens allows me to get the super wide angle of the action making you feel like your right in the middle of it. The second lens i use is a 24-70mm f2.8 tamron lens this is my most versatile lens for indoor sports where i can get very close to the action like in swimming and basketball. Next up is the canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens that i use in a photojournalistic style to isolate my subjects and maintain my distance. I use this for most indoor and many outdoor sports. The last three lenses should only be bought and used if you make money doing photography. First i have the 300mm f2.8 lens from canon this lens is very big and great for sports like hockey or track. Secondly i use the canon 400mm f2.8 lens this allows me to get a little closer then the 300 but at a great increase in weight and size. This is good for sports such as soccer and football. Lastly i use the canon 600mm f4 this i will be using at the  next olympic games where i will most likely be very far away from the action. With all of these larger lenses i use a monopod to hold them up as they are far to heavy to hold in my hands all day. Thanks for checking out my list of essentials for professional sports photography stay tuned for more information on my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
